About Us:

Solar Homestead DIY and Solar Homestead Life are hands-on, off-grid media channels focused on solar energy, sustainable living, and faith-driven stewardship. We produce educational YouTube videos, reels, and tutorials—documenting the real-life journey of transforming sheds into solar-powered homes and helping others do the same.

Job Overview:

This is an entry-level assistant role, perfect for someone who’s passionate about media and eager to grow.

You won’t be stepping in as the director, but if you’re willing to learn, show up consistently, and carry a good attitude—that means more to us than a fancy resume. We’re looking for someone who’s dependable, clear in communication, and ready to jump in where needed.

You’ll help with everything from video editing and thumbnail creation to filming and project prep. It’s a hands-on position with a lot of variety—great for someone who’s hungry to learn in a real-world, off-grid content production environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Video Editing: Help edit YouTube videos, reels, and social content using DaVinci Resolve (or similar).

  • Thumbnail Creation: Use Canva to create clean, attention-grabbing thumbnails designed for mobile and web.

  • Filming Support: Assist with setup, shooting, and production using tools including:

    • Blackmagic Cinema Camera 4K

    • Blackmagic Studio Micro Camera

    • Blackmagic Camera App for iPhone

    • DJI Osmo Action 4

    • Blackmagic ATEM Mini Pro ISO (multi-cam/livestream setup)

    • Blackmagic Video Assist (Field Monitor/Recorder)

  • Project Support:

    • Help with planning, research, scriptwriting, and set prep

    • Assist with solar wiring, light building, and clean-up during project shoots

    • Communicate clearly with the team about progress and needs

  • General: Be proactive, take initiative, and stay focused while working independently or alongside the team.

No Fancy Resume? That’s Okay.

Experience is helpful, but not everything. If you’ve got a great attitude, a strong work ethic, and a drive to learn, that goes a long way. We care more about your heart and potential than just your history.

Bonus Skills (Nice to Have, Not Required):

  • Knowledge of solar or off-grid living

  • YouTube SEO or channel growth experience

  • On-set video production or camera assistant experience

  • Basic design or motion graphics ability
